Annual Exhibition

2020 Exhibition: Saturday 3rd - Sunday 11th October

Following on from the success of a longer Exhibition in the past couple of years, the Exhibition will once again run for 10 days, with a Friday set up and Private view.

All members entering work will need to be available to steward during the Exhibition.

It is essential exhibitors read the Rules & Conditions of entry as submission of entry confirms agreement and several significant changes have been made.

NB: The previous year's documentation will remain in place as a guide in planning and preparing during the year until the new copies are uploaded - hopefully in early Spring.

  Annual Members' Exhibition

The Annual Exhibition is the highlight of the Society’s year.  Hundreds of exhibits are on display and all are available for sale.  Although the majority are paintings in different media, there  are also sculptures, ceramics, textiles and other art works.
Members submit up to four paintings and six 3D works each. Folios (unframed paintings) and cards are also available to browse in stands.
Only members of the Society are allowed to exhibit and application is by entry form available online and with the summer Newsletter.

A Children’s Exhibition to encourage participation in art runs at the same time as the Annual Exhibition.

  Children's Exhibition

Almost all local schools enter art work done by their pupils.  This is displayed during the Annual Exhibition, in the Alton Assembly Rooms.  If you wish to enter work and have not received information for the current year, please email the Society through the "contact us" page and we will send out the details to you.

Work is judged by an Art Society member and prizes are awarded to winners in age groups, starting with pre-school pupils.  The prizes were sponsored by Alton Town Council in 2019, 2017, 2015, & 2013 ; by Spire in 2018; in 2014 a private donation assisted in the provision of prizes; sponsored by Waitrose in 2012, and in other years either by East Hants District Council, Alton Town Council, or the Art Society itself.

Anyone wishing to enter independently, should bring children's work to the stage area of the  Assembly Rooms in Alton between 8.30 and 10am on the Friday morning immediately preceding the opening day in October.

The Prize giving, sponsored in 2020 by TBA, will be at 11am on the second Saturday of the exhibition.
